The chronicle of the year 693 is the second part of Sinaitic Arabic manuscript 597. The first part contains the book of Daniel and the Proverbs of Solomon. This chronicle is a translation and abbreviation of the Syriac version of the chronicle of Theophile the Edessene. A comparison with the chronicle of Agapius (another translation and abbreviation of the Syriac version of the chronicle of Theophile) permits the correction of bad readings and scribal errors in the text of Agapius.
