Nihaya Al-Mubtadi'een Fi Usul Al-Deen - by the Imam of the Hanabila of his time, Imam Ahmad Ibn Hamdan. It is a brief treatise on Hanbali Aqeeda. What makes this document especially interesting, is that it gives us a succinct reading of the theology of the Hanabila just before the rise of Ibn Taymia's writings (Imam Hamdan is one of Ibn Taymia's seniors, who lived during his time). The reader will notice the stark differences which distinguish Imam Ibn Hamdan's theology with that of Ibn Taymia. He is not attributed with emergent attributes. He does not occupy, nor is He confined to emergent places. He is distinct from His creation. Allah is upon the 'Arsh without a limit. Rather, limits are for the 'Arsh and for everything below it. And Allah is clear from this; clear from being in a place, and from having limits. This is because He existed and there was no place, then He created places, and He is as He
