مُحَمَّدٌ زَاهِدُ بْنُ حَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الحلميُّ الكَوْثَرِيُّ نسبة إلى قرية الكوثري بضفة نهر «شيز» من بلاد القوقاز، وقيل بأنه نسبة إلى أحد أجداده، ينحدر من أصل شركسي من قبيلة الشابسوغ.
